  • About This Course

    This comprehensive one module course takes you through an important aspect of Glycaemic variability (GV). Understanding the importance of GV, measures to assess and moreover focusing on its clinical and therapeutic implications. Completing this program will familiarize you with the association between glycaemic variability and diabetes-related complications. The course will provide with a framework for applying the principles of evidence-based medicine to Diabetes management.

    DR. V MOHAN
    M.D., FRCP (London, Edinburgh, Glasgow & Ireland), Ph.D., D.Sc.
    D.Sc (Hon. Causa), FNASc, FASc, FNA, FACE, FACP, FTWAS, MACP, FRSE.

    Dr. V. Mohan is the Chairman and Chief of Diabetology at Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre at Chennai in South India which is an IDF Centre of Excellence in Diabetes Care. Dr. Mohan oversees a chain of 50 diabetes centres across 8 states of India and has over 500,000 registered diabetes patients in his centres. He is also President and Director of the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation which is Asia’s largest stand-alone diabetes research centre. Deeply interested in research from his undergraduate medical student days, Dr. Mohan has published over 1340 papers in peer reviewed journals. This includes 869 original articles, 308 review articles and invited editorials and 168 chapters to text-books on Diabetes. His research has attracted over 128,000 citations a ‘h index’ of 135. Dr. Mohan has trained a large number of physicians & diabetologists in addition to Nurses, Educators and received over 180 awards including the prestigious Dr. B.C. Roy National Award by the Medical Council of India and the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Centenary Award from the Indian Council of Medical Research, the highest award for Biomedical research in India. He was conferred the Dr. Harold Rifkin Distinguished International Service in the Cause of Diabetes Award by the American Diabetes Association and he is the first Indian to receive this award. Recently he has been conferred the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE). Dr. Mohan is one of the few medical doctors in India to have been awarded the FRSE. For his extensive contribution in the field of diabetes, in 2012 Dr. Mohan was awarded Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian awards given by the Govt. of India. Dr.Mohan’s autobiography ‘Making Excellence a Habit: The Secret to Building a World-Class Healthcare System in India’, was just published by Penguin India is already listed as a best seller on Amazon India.

    DR. K M PRASANNA KUMAR
    MBBS, MD (Med), DM (Endo).

    Having completed his training at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, with a distinguished career spanning three decades, Prof. KM Prasanna Kumar is one of India’s foremost endocrinologists. Well known in the Endocrine and Diabetes community as an excellent researcher and teacher, he has headed both the Endocrine Society and the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India – a rare honor. Prof Prasanna Kumar was the President of Indian Thyroid society 2017-2019. For the past 20 years Dr. Prasanna Kumar has been involved in providing diabetes care to a rural community near Sringeri; his philanthropic vision was largely responsible for the creation of the Bangalore Diabetes Hospital where he was the CEO and where each weekend a large number of children with Type I Diabetes come for comprehensive care and free insulin supplies. He has established 50 clinics in 25 districts of Karnataka state, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra for the care of children with Type 1 diabetes to provide free comprehensive care for all these children including educational needs. More than 2400 Children are getting free diabetes care at these centres. He has been the principal investigator in more than 150 global clinical trials and has been responsible for several early pioneering work in translational research. He is the Chairman of DSMB(Data Safety Management Board), International steering committee member(DECLARE TIMI), Member & Co-Chairman for Ethical Committee and National Lead Investigator for many global research projects. He was formerly, Senior Professor & Head of Endocrinology and Diabetes at MS Ramaiah Medical College and later honorary professor. He has published more than 150 articles in various national and international medical journals and edited many books and contributed chapters to text books in diabetes. Presently he is a consultant Endocrinologist and diabetologist at Centre for Diabetes & Endocrine care (CDEC)-Bangalore.
