Research and Development centers for Ayurveda and Siddha

The Ministry of AYUSH has established the Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) and the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS). These organizations are the prime centers for developing and promoting research and development in the Siddha and Ayurveda system of medicine. These prime centers for Ayurveda and Siddha are situated in Hyderabad and Telangana respectively.

Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) 

In India, there are a total of eight functioning institutes/ units under CCRS working on Siddha medicine. Through its eight peripheral institutes/units, CCRS provides health care facilities for various diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, respiratory disorders, musculoskeletal diseases, skin diseases, respiratory diseases, women’s health, neurodegenerative diseases, peptic ulcer diseases, non-healing ulcers, male and female reproductive diseases, non-communicable diseases, vector transmitted diseases, etc. CCRS also provides the public with advanced treatments by Diabetic OPD, Geriatric OPD, Reproductive and Child health care OPD, Varmam, Thokkanam, Bone setting, and Yogam OPD.

Siddhar Kaayakalpam, Siddhar Yogam, external therapies such as Varmam, Thokkanam, and Pura maruthuvam are the strengths of Siddha system for prevention, management, and care incurable diseases along with internal medicines. Research units for the Siddha Medicine system are located in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, New Delhi, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh.

Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS)

CCRAS plans, formulates, conducts, and supports Empirical Research in Ayurvedic Sciences. The main research practices include medicinal plant research (Medico-ethnobotanical survey, pharmacognosy, and tissue culture), drug standardization, pharmacological research, clinical research, literary research & documentation, and the research program for tribal health care. All of this is achieved through its 30 Institutes / Centers / Units located throughout the country in different states and in partnership with reputable academic and research organizations. The results and reports of these researches are propagated throughout the world by articles, technical reports, the Ayush research portal, and journals, etc.

These Research and Development centers for Ayurveda and Siddha medicine systems were developed by the Ministry of AYUSH to cure diseases that are currently incurable under allopathy.
