Indian System of Medicines organized a seminar on an integrated approach for the prevention and treatment of diabetes in Bandipora. Many important personalities such as Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza, Director ISM Mohan Singh, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Nodal Officer ISM Dr. Iftikar Gazi and other senior officers were present on the occasion. The main highlight of the seminar was to educate people about the role of the AYUSH system of medicines in the prevention and treatment of various diseases including diabetes.
During this seminar, the DC requested the concerned department to set up an awareness campaign across the district especially in rural and far-flung areas regarding alternate medicines. Dr. Mohan Singh informed about the potentials of Unani Medicine in public and said that it can treat many diseases effectively and he also shared the information about various schemes for promotion of Unani medicines in Jammu and Kashmir.
The ISm functionaries were also asked to take the AYUSH system to people in a missionary mode so that its benefits can percolate to people especially to those living in far-flung and inaccessible areas. He said the AYUSH system of treatment is not a new thing and has a rich history and tradition which needs to be restored. Nodal Officer Indian System of Medicines, Dr. Iftikhar gave details about the achievements of AYUSH Mission during this fiscal year, he said that there is a tremendous response from the people to avail the benefits of AYUSH system of treatment.
