Spanish Society of Allergology campaign for flu vaccine for children and adults
Experts associated with the Spanish Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (SEAIC) have urged everyone to take the flu vaccine, especially children with asthma. The Society stressed that children with asthma are considered vulnerable and they could face complications if they catch the virus. Previously, the European Union (EU) had also recommended yearly vaccination for patients who suffer from asthma, both adults and children. Although the experts stressed the need for further research to establish the effects of taking both the COVID and flu vaccine, they said that flu vaccines are typically safe as they contain a very small proportion of allergens.
Emphasising the safety of flu vaccines, Nancy Ortega, president of the SEAIC pointed out that the allergens contained in the flu vaccines is usually so small that the person would need to be extremely sensitive to have any reaction.
