India booster dose policy likely by end of November

A decision on India’s Covid-19 vaccine booster dose policy is likely to be announced by the end of November, according to a senior member of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI).

“A comprehensive policy on the booster dose will be out soon and the recommendation would be mainly based on the epidemiological suggestions and the pandemic situation in the country, and most likely cover the priority groups based on age, risk etc., and certainly not by following other nations.  A meeting to finalise the policy will take place next week,” he said.

The NTGI member,  however,  said that the priority of the government will remain on completion of the first and second dose vaccination drive for adults.
