Research finds that nutritious intake has positive effects on COPD patients
A team of researchers from Norway found that the increased intake of fruits and vegetables over prolonged periods might have positive effects on lung function in individuals with COPD.
The researchers said that they investigated the effects of protein supplementation, beetroot juice, increased fruit and vegetable intake, black seed oil, Tualang honey, Chlorella vulgaris-extract, whey-peptide-containing nutritional drink, and increased macronutrient intake in patients for a few weeks to a few months.
They also added that some of these interventions had resulted in systemic inflammation and some yielded mixed results. The researchers highlighted the need for more research in this field to investigate the effects of prolonged dietary interventions.
