Tiotropium effective in asthma management

A recent review conducted by researchers Autumn Guyer and Aidan Long from Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA, established scientific evidence for the use of anticholinergic therapy such as tiotropium in the management of asthma. Underlining several early case reports and recent clinical trials, the study confirmed that it gave more evidence for the use of tiotropium as an add-on medication for asthma. The review used findings from two major international studies that supported the use of tiotropium in a subpopulation of asthmatic patients who failed to establish control with an ICS and a long-acting 2 agonist in combination treatment (LABA).
