Artificial Intelligence in Orthodontics

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a common buzzword in today’s culture. But what does the introduction of artificial intelligence in orthodontics mean for doctors? Will it eventually replace orthodontists entirely?

Artificial intelligence in orthodontics will never replace orthodontists. The 3D Predict team developed a tool based on artificial intelligence: orthodontists can use this tool for more predictable treatment and achieve their treatment goals.

AI is a game-changer for orthodontics because we can now ensure teeth are moved within the alveolar housing and base treatment on the patient’s own root and bone anatomy.

The 3D Predict Team developed the software for root and bone-based treatment planning. If doctors have cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), they will see real root movement within the bone and can plan the tooth movements within the alveolar housing. CBCT provides better predictability for the treatment.

Doctors often tell us that their patients with complex cases are so much happier because over the years they’ve been told they aren’t eligible for aligners. In the past, aligners have been a popular choice for milder cases – more complex cases would require either braces or a form of hybrid treatment. With 3D Predict, we can help doctors treat complex cases effectively – efficient treatment with safe, lasting results.

3D Predict is an innovative technological company using AI to develop & consistently improve a predictable tool for orthodontists to safely and efficiently treat their patients. We’re very happy that technology can improve people’s lives, both for the patient and the orthodontist.
