
US reports first Covid-19 case of Omicron variant in California
With the first case of Covid-19 of Omicron variant reported in the US on Wednesday, 21 countries have so far confirmed the presence of the newly found, highly contagious strain of coronavirus. The first case in the US was detected in a fully vaccinated person in California who had travelled from South Africa before the US imposed a travel ban to international passengers from ‘high risk’ countries, including South Africa. The US administration confirmed that the infected person, who missed a booster shot, showed mild symptoms. Other latest among the countries which detected the Omicron variant include Brazil and Saudi Arabia.
