Review finds social risk interventions significantly improve asthma in children
A review conducted by researcher Jordan Tyris from the Children’s National Hospital, Washington DC, and colleagues found that spreading awareness on the social risks related to health conditions was associated with reduced asthma-related emergency department visits and hospitalizations in children. The researchers wrote that the implementation of peer support with community health workers or health coaches, has a greater association with reduced ED visits. The researchers also said that they analysed over 641 COPD-related articles to reach their findings, with 38 meeting the criteria for inclusion in the systematic review and 19 included in the meta-analysis.
