US Study finds that asthma patients have less risk of brain tumours
Asthma patients are less likely to develop the risk of brain tumours than others, revealed a new research by scientists at the Washington University School of Medicine.
The research, published in the Nature Communications Journal, reported that the activated T cells in an asthmatic patient prevented the growth of brain tumours even though it causes lung inflammation. The researchers expressed their hope that their discovery could be the basis of new treatment methods of brain tumours. The researchers also pointed out this connection was brought to light several years ago through epidemiological studies while the cause was uncertain. The new evidence brought forth by the team opens the door to new therapies targeting T cells and their interactions with the cells in the brain, they added.
