
India reports 14% more Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours; Omicron tally at 87
India witnessed a 14 percent rise in fresh Covid-19 cases at 7,974 in the last 24 hours as compared to the previous day. This includes 26 new cases of Omicron variant infections reported on Thursday. With more Omicron cases confirmed in Delhi, Karnataka, Gujarat and West Bengal, including a fully vaccinated lady with no travel history from Gujarat, the country’s total number of the new ‘variant of concern’ infections have risen to 87 as of Thursday night. According to the Union health ministry, the total number of active cases in the country has declined to 87,245 on Thursday. With the administration of 68,89,025 COVID-19 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, the cumulative vaccination coverage of India has exceeded 135.25 crore, the health ministry data showed.
