NZ Asthma & Respiratory Foundation survey finds vaping among school children rampant, calls for serious anti-vaping campaign

Amid rising evidence of increased use of vape among schoolchildren, public health advocates and school authorities called for anti-vaping school campaigns. The campaign comes amid a recent survey by the survey by the Secondary Principals’ Association of New Zealand (SPANZ) and Asthma and Respiratory Foundation, NZ, in 19,000 highschool students, which revealed that more than a quarter of them had vaped even though the sale of the same to under 18 children is banned. The survey also found that the students who vaped had done it with high nicotine doses multiple times a day. Importantly, the survey also found that 86 percent of those vaping more than once a day said that they were addicted to vaping. Medical experts in New Zealand pointed out how the prohibition of sale of vaping products to under 18s hadn’t helped significantly in controlling their use.
