Exacerbation history, dyspnea severity could accurately predict future COPD events
The history of exacerbations, as well as the severity of dyspnea could potentially predict future exacerbations in patients with COPD accurately, says an observational study published in Respiratory Medicine. The researchers said that they had analysed the records of 96,462 adults, of which 13,380 had COPD, which the researchers then focused into on the basis of COPD exacerbation history, dyspnea score, and the presence or absence of maintenance treatment with inhaled long-acting bronchodilators and/or inhaled corticosteroids. The study also reported that history of exacerbations and dyspnea, though to a smaller degree, were associated with increased risk for future exacerbations in both treatment-naive and maintenance treatment populations.
