A long-term study of 990 sufferers who have been infected with Covid-19 in the early months of the pandemic observed that 11% persisted to have a few forms of post covid symptoms for as long as 9-12 months from the onset of the disease, with fatigue being the maximum common among them. While monitoring long Covid in them, it observed that 40% had experienced some form of long Covid, which covers each ongoing symptomatic phase (from four to twelve weeks following the onset of illness), and post-Covid-19 phase (symptoms that develop throughout or after Covid-19 and continue for more than 12 weeks, not defined through an opportunity diagnosis).

Long COVID, or post-COVID symptoms, as it is being dubbed is the most recent war COVID survivors can be preventing off. While long COVID risk has long been studied and warned against through global experts, the extent of the harm due to post-COVID-syndrome could affect 1 in 10 Indians after the second wave of coronavirus ends. Some symptoms may be on the milder side, solve on their own, and a few may be slight or extreme in nature and require extended recovery and care. As in keeping with Indian researchers, here are a number of the most common long COVID symptoms visible in sufferers and can require a little attention:

Post-COVID cough
Malaise, joint aches and muscle ache

Memory impairment, mind fog
Sudden breathlessness at rest
Renal damage
Leg pain or swelling

“This entity of ‘Post-Covid Syndrome’ needs to be explored further. It is not fully known yet what kind of patients gets this affliction, how many days such symptoms persist, and with what outcome. This may range from area to vicinity but highlights the need for long-term follow-up by a multidisciplinary team including general practitioners, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and rehabilitation programs to improve the quality of life of these patients,” states the study.
