World Health Day :Focusing on Our Health

April 7th is observed as World Health Day. World Health Day was initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO).  A tradition going back to 1950 as the anniversary of their inception, WHO has since made the 7th of every April a day to celebrate and recognize the importance of the physical and mental well-being of individuals across the world. Health is the state of being free from illness or injury.

How do we take care of our health?

  1. Healthy food intake, because what you eat is firmly connected to your health.
  2. Exercise regularly
  3. Keep a check on your body weight.
  4. Keep yourself hydrated.
  5. Practice good hygiene.
  6. Visit the doctor.

 

Health Care Facts

  • At least half of the world’s population still do not have full coverage of essential health services
  • About 100 million people are still being pushed into “extreme poverty”  because they have to pay for health care
  • Over 800 million people (almost 12 percent of the world’s population) spent at least 10 percent of their household budgets to pay for health care
  • All UN Member States have agreed to try to achieve universal health coverage (UHC) by 2030, as part of the Sustainable Development Goals

 

Health does not only mean focusing on your physical health, it also means to focus on your mental and emotional well-being. Staying healthy is very important and people often neglect it due to ever this changing world. You should always take some time for yourself and keep a close eye on your health. Because health is the most precious asset that one posses. . People who are emotionally healthy are in control of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. They’re able to cope with life’s challenges. They can keep problems in perspective and bounce back from setbacks. They feel good about themselves and have good relationships.
