Burden and Management of Partial Response to Standard PPI Therapy in GERD: Real-World Indian Evidence

This multicentric retrospective study analysed EMRs of 5205 GERD patients in India to assess partial response burden and management. Partial response occurred in 41.7%, with heartburn (76%) as the commonest symptom. Pantoprazole and rabeprazole were widely used. Pantoprazole DDR 80 mg once daily significantly improved heartburn (60.2%) and abdominal pain (66.1%) compared to standard dosing. Higher-dose pantoprazole therapy was effective in partial responders, supporting its role in optimizing GERD treatment in Indian clinical practice.
