Recommendations are crucial in the rapidly expanding field of heart failure (HF). The American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association/Heart Failure Society of America (ACC/AHA/HFSA) and European Society of Cardiology (ESC) have recently released guidelines for treating HF with reduced ejection fraction. These guidelines partially overlap, but there are notable differences due to recent publications and differing perspectives on HF’s natural history. The ESC and ACC/AHA/HFSA guidelines focus on US-specific topics like cost-effectiveness of medications and health inequalities impacting HF care. Comparing these guidelines can help readers understand their content and apply them in their own
practice. This can also contribute to harmonizing future guidelines’ recommendations.
