Long term smell loss in COVID
A recent study has found a connection between the severity of smell loss symptoms and the duration and intensity of COVID-19 symptoms. The study involved an analysis of 2,581 COVID-19 patients, and the results showed that individuals who experienced a loss for more than a month were more susceptible to long COVID symptoms. Additionally, patients who had prolonged loss exhibited more severe initial COVID-19 symptoms and were more likely to suffer from long COVID symptoms like fatigue, headaches, and difficulty concentrating. These findings suggest that the loss can be an essential indicator of the intensity of COVID-19 infection and could help in identifying patients who are at higher risk of developing long COVID.
