India reported 2,35,532 new COVID-19 cases, 871 deaths and 3,35,939 recoveries in the last 24 hours ending 9 am on Saturday. The country’s weekly positivity rate stood at 16.89 percent with an active caseload of 200,04,333, showed the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. 

Maharashtra reported the highest number of deaths since September 1 as the fatalities rose to 103 with a jump of over 145 percent in a day. However, Covid-19 cases in the state dropped to 24,948 from 25,425 in 24 hours. Meanwhile, Kerala posted more than 50,000 new SARS CoV-2 infections, mainly driven by the Omicron variant in the last 24 hours.
