ABG tests confirm constant increase of CO2 level in COPD patients exposed to air pollution in Delhi, NCR

A series of results generated through arterial blood gas (ABG) tests in patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in the national capital region (NCR) of India found that the levels of carbon dioxide in their body were constantly increasing as a result of the increased pollution, leading to significant drop in oxygen levels and increased chances of fatality.

Medical reports have emerged saying that the post-covid effects are getting more complicated and that patients are developing secondary infections. Two deaths have also been reported due to a lack of oxygen in the lungs, said media reports.

Medical experts have cautioned the elderly, children and people with a compromised immune system to take extra precautions to avoid lung infections and pneumonia.

The problems due to pollution are intense in COPD and asthma patients in this region of late, says Dr SK Katiyar, former principal of GSVM Medical College, Kanpur.
