Oxford University starts UK-wide study to analyse new antiviral treatments against Covid-19 prioritising patients at high risk of severe illness

The University of Oxford has commenced a UK-wide study to analyse the new antiviral treatments against Covid infections prioritising the patients at high risk severe illness. The study, called PANORAMIC, will see people in the early stages of illness from COVID-19 who are at higher risk of complications access new antiviral treatments and the eligibility for the study is therefore limited to those who meet certain criteria.

Meanwhile, Scotland’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Gregor Smith has urged people to sign up for the trials. He said in a press release that the University will test the new antiviral treatments for the population and this will allow the NHS to better plan how to make COVID-19 antivirals available for those who would benefit from them the most.
