Anxiety Prevalent in Dermatology Outpatients
Anxiety is a common condition among dermatology outpatients, according to a recent study published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. The study, which surveyed over 1,500 patients, found that more than one-third of respondents reported symptoms of anxiety. Patients with acne, psoriasis, and eczema were more likely to experience anxiety than those with other skin conditions. The researchers suggest that dermatologists should be aware of the high prevalence of anxiety in their patient population and offer appropriate screening and referral for mental health care when necessary.
