Study finds most asthma patients in US are not prepared for transition from paediatric to adult care

A new study conducted by Suzanne Ngo and her colleagues from Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora found that most asthma patients have not been prepared for the transition from pediatric care to adult care for asthma treatment.

The researchers said that they conducted their research on two cohorts of patients online between the ages 18 and 30 to evaluate their personal experiences with receiving treatment for asthma.

The research team found that most of the subjects did not receive clear transition plans or care. Ngo pointed out that this might lead to inadequate care for patients, especially young adults and exacerbation of existing conditions.
