Bacteria produce scrub typhus – rare neurological disease associated with mites
Bacteria produce scrub typhus, which is spread by mites. Patients frequently arrive with high fevers or multi-organ failure. Neurological symptoms are also observed; however, the frequency of their occurrence is unclear. Cerebellitis, or cerebellar inflammation, is an uncommon neurological consequence of scrub typhus. A 35-year-old male tested positive for scrub typhus using an ELISA blood test, according to the case report. He came in with a fever and cerebellar symptoms. He was given antibiotics and recovered quickly.
