Four key biological factors associated with long COVID
The level of coronavirus RNA in the patient’s blood, the presence of certain auto-antibodies, the reactivation of the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and having type 2 diabetes are the four key factors associated with the risk of getting long COVID. A study by researchers from several scientific institutions, including the University of Washington, published in the journal Cell, pointed out that 95 percent of patients with long Covid symptoms had at least one of these four factors. These findings would help understand and predict the complexities and possibilities of long Covid in patients.
