Chronic ocular pain may benefit from team approac
A team-based approach to managing chronic ocular pain may be more effective than a single-provider approach, according to a study published in the Journal of Ophthalmic Nursing and Technology. The study found that patients with chronic ocular pain who were treated by a team that included an ophthalmologist, a pain specialist, and a psychologist reported greater improvement in their pain levels than those treated by a single provider. The team-based approach allowed for a more comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan that addressed both the physical and psychological aspects of the patients’ pain. This study highlights the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to managing chronic ocular pain and suggests that a team-based approach may lead to better outcomes for patients.
