India’s single-day surge in Covid-19 cases is almost double at 90,929 on Wednesday

The daily spike in Covid-19 cases in India has almost doubled on Wednesday as the country reported 90,928 new cases in the last 24 hours. The number of new cases reported the previous day was around 58,000. The country has also registered 325 new deaths on Wednesday, which was also high as compared to the last seven-day average of  280.  India has so far confirmed 2,135 infection cases caused by the Omicron variant, which is now becoming the predominant variant in the third wave of the pandemic in the country, overtaking Delta.
