The United States reported its highest single-day spike in new Covid-19 cases at 1.13 million in the last 24 hours. New infection cases, with the highly transmissible Omicron variant as the dominant strain, have been constantly rising in the country with no sign of slowing down in the last couple of weeks. Covid-linked hospitalisation is also breaking records in the US. As of Sunday, the country saw 142,388 hospital admissions of patients with the virus infection and related complications.
