Death of Glasgow chef prompts inclusion of asthma inhalers in first aid kits
Asthma inhalers are set to be introduced to work first-aid kits after the tragic death of Lauren Reid, a 19 year old chef at a kitchen in a Glasgow restaurant. Ms Reid died February last year after a serious asthma attack and her mother has been campaigning for the inclusion of salbutamol inhalers in commercial kitchens. Public policy as well as medical experts have welcomed the news and pointed out how the restaurant kitchens are particularly risky because powder, flour, fumes, heat and humidity can all trigger asthma attacks.
