 
					                    				                    	Duke Neurology Department’s Recent Research Highlights Promising Brain Tumor Therapy and Stroke Treatment Validation
The Duke Neurology Department has made significant contributions to the field with 15 peer-reviewed journal articles in June. These articles highlight groundbreaking therapies for brain tumors and the validation of a stroke treatment for patients taking vitamin K antagonists. The American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, American Society of Neurophysiological Monitoring, and ASET The Neurodiagnostic Society have released guidelines for neurodiagnostic personnel qualifications. Parkinson’s Disease research has led to new insights into patient experiences, tremors, balance, gait problems, and pain/discomfort. Neurosarcoidosis research has explored complications from obstructive hydrocephalus, while neuromuscular disease research investigates alternative therapies for ALS. Neuro-oncology studies have revealed a new treatment for brain tumors, improving survival rates and reducing invasive therapies. Additionally, meningiomas and their associated seizures have been explored, discussing surgical resection efficacy and postoperative anti-epileptic drug management options.
