Electronic cigarettes weaken bone health: research
Vaping or using electronic cigarettes could potentially harm bone health and increase risks of fracture, finds a new study conducted by Dr. Dayawa Agoons, a resident physician at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Pinnacle in Harrisburg, and her team.
The researchers said that they analysed data from 5,500 US adults across all age groups who participated in a 2017-2018 national health survey to conclude that the amount of nicotine present in vapes could be the contributing factor to decreased bone health, much like conventional cigarettes.
The researchers highlighted the need for more research in this domain and how medical practitioners should dissuade patients from using e-cigs citing the disadvantages.
