Endovascular Treatment of Hepatic Vein Stenosis Post Major Liver Resection: Efficacy, Safety, and Outcomes
This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and outcomes of endovascular treatment of hepatic vein stenosis post-major liver resection. The study included 12 patients who underwent a total of 16 interventions, including primary stent placement and balloon angioplasty. Technical success was achieved in all cases, with a 72% permanent reduction or complete resolution of ascites. However, laboratory parameters related to liver function did not show significant improvement after intervention. The median follow-up period was 6 months, and the median primary patency time for patients with balloon angioplasty was 11 months while for patients with angioplasty and stent placement was only 1 month.
