Combined RESP- SAMS assessment found feasible and effective for COPD: Research

A study conducted at the College of Nursing, Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, USA, found that the combined Respiratory Fitness (RESP-FIT) and Smartphone Airway Management System (SAMS) program is feasible and effective in assessing the disease in a home environment. RESP-SAMS is a 6-week, self-management, technology-enhanced respiratory muscle strength training (RMST) with mHealth intervention.

The researchers said that they analysed data from 30 participants for 14 weeks and found that although the participants reported positive reviews on the system on the whole, bluetooth enabled training tracking was not feasible for most.
