Recent news reports from the area have also suggested an increase in airborne fungus concentration post hurricanes and rains. The reports also pointed out a lack of knowledge in the studies concerning the increase in fungal spores found after calamities. They have also stressed on the need for community education in order to increase the awareness and empower patients to seek help when needed.
