Fungal spore concentrations in air cause exacerbated Asthma infections in COPD patients: Study

A recent study in Puerto Rico found that an increase in fungal spore concentrations caused exacerbated asthma reactions in COPD patients. Medical experts have continued to assert the need for stricter conduct of energy assessments and health interventions on the part of richer countries including the US to combat this situation. Recent news reports from the area have also suggested an increase in airborne fungus concentration post hurricanes and rains. The reports also pointed out a lack of knowledge in the studies concerning the increase in fungal spores found after calamities. They have also stressed on the need for community education in order to increase the awareness and empower patients to seek help when needed.
