
India reports 9 more Omicron variant infectious on Friday taking the tally to 32; Vaccine 3rd dose after nine months
India reported 9 more infection cases of Omicron variant of SARS CoV-2 on Friday, taking the case tally to 32. This includes 7 new cases in Maharashtra and 2 from Gujarat.
Meanwhile, the special expert committee of the Central Drug Standards Organisation (CDSCO), which met on Friday afternoon to discuss the booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine, has reportedly repotedly recommended for a third dose to be taken after 9 months of the second dose. However, the eligibility of the third dose will be decided on a case to case basis, while the Central government has asked state governments to closely monitor the emerging hotspots and clusters of Covid-19, and breakthrough and re-infection cases in view of the newly detected Omicron variant of the virus.
