After receding slightly from the spiralling growth yesterday,  India’s daily rise in new Covid-19 cases have spiked to 2,82,970 in the 24 hours ending 9 am on Wednesday. The country also reported 441 related deaths on Tuesday. According to  data updated by the Union Ministry of Health, the active caseload has increased to 18,31,000, up from yesterday’s 17.3 lakh, in the country. The daily positivity rate has increased to 15.13 per cent. The Omicron tally has reached 8,961 — an increase of 0.79 per cent since yesterday, the Ministry said.
