India reported 83,876 new Covid cases and 895 related deaths in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate in the country currently stands at 96.19 percent. The unprecedented surge in cases in the third wave is now being followed by a substantial drop. In the second week of declining infections, cases dipped by a record 45 percent with the rate of fall more than doubling from 19 percent in the previous week.
