Inhaled prostacyclin cures ARDS: German study
Inhaled prostacyclin helps reduce the effects of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) induced by coronavirus disease, found a study conducted by a team of scientists from Germany.
The research paper, published on the medRxiv preprint server, said that prostacyclin had the propensity to increase oxygenation among ARDS patients without any adverse events or additional benefits to the patients.
The researchers from leading German scientific institutions, including Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Tübingen University Hospital, Institute for Clinical Epidemiology and Applied Biometry and Institute of Experimental Biomedicine, University Hospital Würzburg, also added that no significant change in response was noticed among patients across age, sex, injury type, or COVID-19 status and that the medicine worked well for the patients with or wthout COVID-19.
