Israel reports first case of ‘Florona’, combination of influenza and Covid-19

The first case of ‘Florona’ has been reportedly recorded in a pregnant woman who was admitted to the Rabin Medical Centre in Israel for delivery. Florona, the occurrence of influenza and Covid-19 at the same time, which could be on the rise, has caused another health panic. Although there were not many cases of routine winter season flu reported this time thanks to Covid appropriate behaviours, experts feel that the relaxed Covid restrictions, including around masks and social distancing, might have led to the increasing cases of flu again and a combined infection could pose higher risk, particularly in the unvaccinated. According to reports, the young woman was not vaccinated, as it may indicate a major breakdown of the immunity system as two viruses are entering the human body at the same time. According to Israeli doctors, Florona is being seriously studied now as the country has seen a surge in influenza cases in the last few weeks.
