La Nina weather pattern causes asthma allergy exacerbations
The La Nina weather pattern is currently causing serious health issues for hay fever sufferers due to high grass pollen count and heavy rainfalls this year. A research conducted by Dr Penelope Jones, a fellow at the Menzies Institute of Research at the University of Tasmania, suggests that the residents of Tasmania to be extra careful due to the higher pollen production in the past few weeks, which are expected to increase as due to dry spells after rains. Dr Jones also reminded that the La Nina weather pattern had previously caused a huge asthma outbreak in Melbourne causing the death of 9 people.
