
Maharashtra posts 9 more Omicron cases on Tuesday pushing India tally to 45
With seven more patients found infected with Omicron in Mumbai and one in the suburbs of Vasai, the total cases of the new and highly mutated coronavirus variant infection have gone up to 28 in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours. The state said on Tuesday that out of these, 9 have already been discharged after they tested negative by follow up RT-PCR tests. While Maharashtra has the largest number of Omicron cases, the country’s tally of omicron cases has now risen to 45. Rajasthan has reported the second highest number of cases with the new ‘variant of concern’ at 9, followed by Delhi (6), Gujarat (4), Karnataka (3), Kerala (1), Andhra Pradesh (1) and Union Territory of Chandigarh (1).
India has reported a total of 5,784 new Covid-19 cases, mostly Delta variant infections, in the last 24 hours, pushing the country’s tally to 3,47,03,644 so far.
