Man comatose for nine hours after cocaine overdose, sent to emergency hospital
After being found comatose for nine hours, a 55-year-old man was sent to the emergency hospital. He had signs of brain injury, muscular breakdown, elevated troponin levels, kidney damage, and liver damage. A drug test revealed that he had cocaine in his system. He was given Narcan and exhibited no improvement, and CT scans revealed no serious brain or spine concerns. Due to low oxygen levels, he required intubation and surgery to alleviate pressure on his left leg. Due to his inadequate mental recovery, he was sent for further treatment. An MRI of his brain revealed globus pallidus abnormalities. His condition deteriorated gradually, with severe brain dysfunction, loss of mobility, Parkinson-like symptoms, and seizures. He received a battery of tests, including an EEG, MRI, spinal fluid analysis, and MRI.
