More women with acid reflux or heartburn have poor sleep quality: study
The study discovered that women who had acid reflux or heartburn symptoms more frequently and for a longer period of time were more likely to have poor sleep quality. Approximately 16% of the women in the research reported experiencing reflux symptoms at least twice a week, and 16% reported having poor sleep quality during the study period. Women who experienced more frequent symptoms performed lower on a sleep quality assessment. Women with reflux symptoms up to three times a month were 15% more likely to have poor sleep quality than women with symptoms less than once a month. The risk increased to 31% for those who had weekly symptoms and 53% for those who had symptoms twice a week or more.
