Nasal photodisinfection therapy significantly reduces SARS CoV-2 viral load
A recent research paper presented at the IDWeek 2021 conference showed that nasal photodisinfection therapy for treating asymptomatic and early stage COVID-19 patients has been found to significantly reduce the severity of lower tract respiratory disease.
In the study of a patient cohort of 13 female and 27 male patients with an age range of 9 to 56 years, viral load reduction was confirmed by rapid antigen test following photodisinfection treatment. 100% of the patients who tested positive at the outset of the study were confirmed negative. Moreover, the treatment also resulted in fever resolution in 24 hours for 60% of the patients, and for 100% of the patients in 48 hours, while no patients in the study were admitted to the hospital during the follow up.
