CDC to consider negative antigen test as part of Covid-19 guidelines for leaving isolation

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the US is now considering including the negative test as part of its updated Covid-19 guidelines. Dr. Anthony Fauci, senior US infectious diseases expert, told the media that the recommendation to include negative tests came after CDC received immense criticism and pushback for its updated guidelines released last week. Under the previous guidance, isolation restrictions for infected patients were reduced from 10 to 5 days, after which they are advised to spend the following 5 days wearing a mask around others. Several medical practitioners and experts raised criticism against this as the guidelines do not mandate a negative antigen test as a requirement for leaving isolation. Addressing the concerns, Dr Fauci said that there may be an option that testing could be a part of the guidelines.
