Hypertension is a preventable risk factor for cardiovascular disease, responsible for 20% of deaths worldwide. However, two-thirds of individuals go unnoticed, untreated, or undertreated. To enhance hypertension management, a comprehensive strategy is necessary. Early screening and educational programs are crucial and should continue throughout a person’s life, and home blood pressure monitoring could be utilized to encourage patients and improve blood pressure control rates. The utilization of current blood pressure control methods, including lifestyle adjustments, antihypertensive drugs, and devices, must be optimized. Strategies to enhance patient adherence and physician therapeutic inertia, such as education and reassurance, digital tools, and task-sharing, may improve blood pressure control rates. Digital health technologies are becoming more commonly used in hypertension management, and government policies should encourage regular blood pressure screening and cardiovascular risk factor management.
