The Omicron variant of Covid-19 is dangerous, especially for those who have not been vaccinated against the disease and the huge global spike in (Covid-19) cases was being driven by Omicron, the World Health Organization said on Wednesday.

However, there should not be any situation where the people surrender to this new variant of concern because of vaccine hesitancy or non-adherence to Covid appropriate behavior, the agency said.

“While Omicron causes less severe disease than Delta, it remains a dangerous virus, particularly for those who are unvaccinated,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a press conference in Geneva.
