Omicron tally in India crosses 60 as Maharashtra, Kerala and Delhi add up fresh cases

India’s tally of coronavirus cases rose to 61 after Delhi and Kerala reported four fresh infections each, while eight more persons have tested positive for the new COVID-19 variant in Maharashtra. The cases of Omicron variant infection in Maharashtra has gone up to 35 as of today.  Tamil Nadu has reported its first case of Omicron infection on Wednesday.  Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain said all six people who have so far tested positive for the omicron variant in the national capital had a history of traveling abroad. 

While the cumulative vaccination coverage of India has exceeded 135.25 crore on Wednesday,  the country reported 7,974 new coronavirus cases, pushing the number of active cases in the country to 87,245 in the last 24 hours.
