Even as the new coronavirus variant Omicron dominates the ongoing third of Covid-19 pandemic, India’s total number of infection cases proven to be associated with this variant, after gene sequencing, has been estimated at 6.041 so far. Meanwhile, the single-day surge in Covid-19 cases in the country has peaked to 2,68,833 in the 24 hours ending 9 am on Saturday. This has taken the country’s total tally of Covid-19 cases to 3,68,50,962 until now, according to the Union Health Ministry data released on Saturday.
